3rd Ave Youth will host their
Annual Pumpkin Auction & Bake Sale
on Sunday, October 11th,
during fellowship time.
Proceeds go to mission projects & youth events.
The Church will be sending out College Care Packages! The boxes for the college students will be in the Narthex October 4-18, and the congregation is encouraged to add a “care” item. “Care” items could be goodies, supplies, or caring wishes in a card. Thank you!
You’re invited! Following worship on Sunday, October 25th, there will be an Open House at the New Parsonage! (909 S. 2nd Ave) Fellowship Time will take place at the new parsonage.
It’s our turn to serve at Bread of Life on Wednesday, October 28th, at 5 p.m. at the Forster Community Center. To volunteer, please contact Rhonda Menning (email@example.com or a note in her church mailbox). Wear your “Catch the Fire” t-shirt if able!
We remind the congregation that we will again be collecting for ATLAS on Communion Sundays. Our next Communion Sunday is November 1. A set Sunday is a good reminder of when to bring a donation. Your donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries can be placed in the grocery cart in the narthex – not just on Communion Sunday, but anytime. Thank you!
A 5 week Advent Bible Study, “Finding Bethlehem in the Midst of Bedlam” will be offered starting Sunday, November 15th, and ending on Sunday, December 13th. Books will need to be ordered so please indicate interest either to the office, or sign up on the signup sheet that is posted on the East entryway bulletin board (by 11/1). This study will be offered during the Sunday School hour, but if there is interest for a 5 p.m. Sunday class for those who are teaching or otherwise unavailable during the SS hour, accommodations for that can be arranged. When you sign up, please indicate your preference. Thank you.
Annual Charge Conference will be Monday, November 2nd, at
7 p.m. at Pioneer UMC in Rock Valley. All members are encouraged to attend and vote.
Please consider going to the School for Lay Ministry-class of 2018. This program is unique to the Iowa Annual Conference, and facilitates laity for more involved leadership and in your own spiritual growth. Questions/comments please contact Dean Gaphart firstname.lastname@example.org (Morningside site).
A new sign up sheet is on the bulletin board (East entry). It’s a sign up for those interested in learning how to operate the sound system. We are in need (especially during the summer months) of individuals to run the sound system during worship, as well as for other special events. If this is something you would like to help with, please list your name. Info on training will be made available in the near future. Thank you!
Also on the bulletin board is a signup sheet for liturgists (Oct.-Dec.).
The Sept./Oct. issues of Upper Room are available for $1.50 each. They are located on the table by the East stairs.
Prayer concerns can be called into the office (472-2324) or emailed to the office at email@example.com or Rev. Marcia at firstname.lastname@example.org and they will be sent out.
If you (or someone you know) is not receiving the emails of the monthly church newsletter or weekly prayer partner & would like to be included, please contact the office to add your name to the list.
For those who are not able to receive our monthly newsletter by email, printed copies are available on the table by the mailboxes.
Extra directories have been placed in the pew hymnal racks. It was thought that having these available during worship would be beneficial, especially for someone new to our congregation or just visiting!
If you would like to receive services from RRUMC Caring Hands Meal Ministry and/or Transportation Ministry, contact the church office.
Thank you & God Bless!
