Please visit our conference website at www.iaumc.org
for helpful information about spiritual care during disaster response.

Our church will be working on Wednesday, August 27th at the Bread of Life Food Distribution (run through ATLAS).  This event takes place monthly at the Forster Community Center.  We are in need of 12-15 volunteers.  If you can help, please contact Rhonda Menning or the church office.  Volunteer jobs include passing out grocery items, filling boxes, helping carry to the car, praying with those receiving the items, and offering a needed smile or hug.

Due to the low number of those needing the nursery during worship right now, and the absences of the kids that are normally able to staff the nursery, the nursery will be closed for the month of August.  Thank you for your understanding.

Anyone who wishes to provide Special Music on any Sunday during the summer months, may contact the office to sign-up.

UMW Salad Luncheon Update
It was decided, after gathering input from some of you, that we will go ahead with receiving the $25 donations if you had signed up to bring food and or work. We will see how things proceed from that and if necessary will try a smaller fund raiser of some kind down the road.
We thank you for your input, generosity and understanding of our situation. Please make checks payable to UMW and either bring to the church office or give to Judy Griesse, Treasurer.
Thanks again,
-Vicki, Nancy and Bobbie

ATLAS can't take much more furniture at this time. At the same time they hate to turn good items down. There are people around the west half of Iowa who are pooling furniture to bring it. I think many of them could find a way to store it for now. But ATLAS is asking for the following:

1. Please check with people whether they know of a building that could be used for storing furniture (in town is highly preferred).

2. Please remind people to deliver purposeful items - not just use this as a way to remove unwanted items from their homes.

3. Please ask for more volunteers to man the old Simply Said building, and the Ag shop at the high school. They don't need to lift, but would keep track of who brings what, and who reserves what.

Frontier Bank is starting a monthly Community Project.  Each month they will focus on a new charity, and collect items needed by that charity.  This month’s recipient is the Supply Our Students Program.  Needed items include backpacks, notebooks, folders, tape, pencils, pencil sharpeners, calculators, highlighters, markers, colored pencils, pens and erasers.  For those that choose to participate, donations can be dropped off at your local Frontier Bank Branch, or at our ATLAS grocery cart here in the church narthex.

The mission of ERT, is to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of disaster.

An early response team fills a specific need in the early days after a disaster. This team is not the first to respond, nor the long term recovery volunteers. Rather we fill a need in between. Offering care, compassion and help as Christian brothers and sisters in the midst of disaster.

The July/August issues of Upper Room are in the Narthex, and are available for $1.50 each.

Extra directories have been placed in the pew hymnal racks.  It was thought that having these available during worship would be beneficial, especially for someone new to our congregation or just visiting!

If you (or someone you know) is not receiving the monthly church newsletter or weekly prayer partner emails & would like to be included, please contact the office to add your name to the list.

If you would like to receive services from RRUMC Caring Hands Meal Ministry and/or Transportation Ministry, contact the church office.

Our church is in need of a different Christmas tree this year - preferably a nice tall one.  It’s for the sanctuary.  If this is something you can help with, please contact the office.

Thank you!

~Our Mission Statement~

Inspired by the truth of Scripture, we believe that God's primary purpose for our church
is to bring all persons into spiritual relationship with God through Jesus Christ by our
uplifting words, our loving deeds and our Christian example so that we may reach out
and minister to others, in each of whom we see the very image of Christ.
